Anxiety Relief through Naturopathic Telemedicine

Anxiety Relief through Naturopathic TelemedicineTimes of high stress and vulnerability can be hard to navigate alone.

Experiencing self-isolation could trigger anxiety in anyone regardless of past history. These times may feel unclear and unbalanced causing a variety of anxiety related symptoms.

In a paper published by the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, symptoms of Generalized Anxiety Disorder include experiencing some of the following:

  • Feelings of uncontrollable worry and anxiety most of the time
  • Restlessness
  • Fatigue
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Muscle tension
  • Irritability
  • Sleep disturbance

While conventional medicine often approaches anxiety through a variety of pharmaceuticals, the Integrative Med Solutions (IMS) treatment that utilizes Chinese herbs and Chinese dietary therapy offers a natural application now through telemedicine sessions. This can address the symptoms and the root cause, not just the symptoms.

Naturopathic Medicine for Anxiety

A study published in the journal Current Neuropharmacology posted by the National Center for Biotechnology Information, U.S. National Library of Medicine cited the beneficial effects of a variety of herbal treatments for anxiety used in Chinese Medicine. It was stated in the study that extracts from various herbs, either alone or as a combination, could be highly effective in naturally treating atmospheric induced anxiety and anxiety disorders.

Some herbs cited included:

  • Centalla asiatica (totukola)
  • Valeriana officinalis (valerian)
  • Matricaria recutita (German chamomile)
  • Melissa officinalis (lemon balm)
  • Humulus lupulus (hops)

Another study of naturopathic medicine applied to the high stress associated with Canadian postal workers showed significant results. The study, ‘Naturopathic Care for Anxiety: A Randomized Controlled Trial’ posted by PLoS One, a Peer-Reviewed Open Access Journal followed seventy-five postal employees for over eight weeks. The study concluded that,

“Naturopathic treatment including Withania Somnifera (the herb, ashwagandha), a multi vitamin, dietary counseling and cognitive-behavioral therapy appears to be safe and effective, with benefit over standardized psychotherapy in the treatment of mild to severe generalized anxiety in the Canada Post worker population.”

In addition to Chinese medicine herbal applications there is also homeopathy, clinical nutrition, nutraceutical supplementation and clinical therapy all available through IMS telemedicine conferencing.

Digital Healing Through IMS Telehealth

There are many natural approaches that can be applied to the high anxiety associated with self-isolation through telemedicine sessions with Dr. Fred Lisanti of Integrative Med Solutions.

Telemedicine has slowly become a valid tool in treating homebound patients. Also known as Telehealth, The American Journal of Managed Care (AJMC) posted the study ‘Patient and Clinician Experiences With Telehealth for Patient Follow-up Care’ (January, 2019) which found that,

“When comparing VVVs [virtual video visits] and office visits, 62.6% of patients and 59.0% of clinicians reported no difference in “the overall quality of the visit.” VVVs were vastly preferred to office visits by patients for convenience and travel time. A majority (52.5%) of clinicians reported higher efficiency of a VVV appointment. For established patients, VVVs may provide effective follow-up and enhanced convenience when compared with traditional office visits.”
