Stroke - ParalysisThere are two forms of stroke, ischemic and hemorrhagic. Ischemic is a blockage of blood vessels feeding blood to the brain and hemorrhagic is bleeding in and around the brain.

Some of the more prevalent causes of stroke include cigarette smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and TIA’s (transient ischemic attacks) which are small strokes that often re-occur and end up causing a full blown episode.

Integrated Med Solutions (IMS) can strengthen a stroke victim’s weakened system or create a specific protocol that addresses some of the above mentioned causes.

Acupuncture is a highly effective treatment that can enhance blood and energy flow allowing stroke victims to considerably progress more rapidly toward ultimate healing.

Acupuncture: Gently Reinforcing the Effects or Causes of Stroke and Paralysis
Scalp acupuncture developed in 1964 by Professor Ming Quing Zhu showed great improvement in cognitive and motor skills of stroke victims. In addition, targeting hypertension, one of the major causes of stroke, Dr. John C. Longhurst conducted a study out of the University of California of the effects of acupuncture on hypertensive rats. The results were stunning with endorphin release lowering blood pressure and decreasing heart activity. Dr. Lisanti of IMS, a trained, licensed acupuncturist, is familiar with stroke and paralysis treatment. He will aim for specific locations affiliated with your individual symptoms or potential challenges that may include: Pericardium 9 (Zhongchong) tip of the middle finger which clears heat and strengthens the heart; Stomach 9 (Renying) border of the SCM regulating qi and blood; and Liver 3 (Taichong) top of the foot near the first toe which regulates liver qi, subdues liver yang and calms shen (mind). Liver 3 is essential for relief of pain of the lower extremities and difficulty walking which often accompanies a stroke.

Clinical Nutrition and Nutraceutical Supplementation: Weight Reduction, Dietary Adjustment and Re-Education

  • Garlic, Magnesium and calcium for circulatory enhancement as well as lowering blood pressure
  • B vitamins which lower the amino acid homocysteine which is connected to heart disease
