Clinical Hypnosis, Homeopathy and Acupuncture for AddictionClinical Hypnosis, Homeopathy and Acupuncture for Addiction
Dealing with addiction is the first step toward a healing path that will ultimately lead to a higher quality of living, physically, mentally, and spiritually. If denial continues, even during a healing path, success is threatened. Once an addiction is admitted and accepted then outside forces can help. Addiction therapy includes working with group or individual counseling, possible pharmacological intervention or trying to stop it on your own. Integrative Med Solutions (IMS) approaches addiction through a multi-faceted program of acupuncture and naturopathic medicine that attempts to re-align the body’s energy into a stronger, addiction free environment.

Acupuncture: Pointing toward Addiction
Depending on your addiction, Dr. Lisanti, IMS licensed acupuncturist, will target specific points that correlate with your symptoms and history. It is a virtually pain-free, non-toxic, highly safe tool used with even more of a positive effect when combined with naturopathic medicine. Conventional medicine has even found that use of acupuncture for addiction can be an excellent substitute to a pharmaceutical approach such as methadone in place of heroin. This was apparent in a pilot program started in the 1970’s at the Lincoln Clinic in the South Bronx, New York City. Now known as The Lincoln Clinic protocol, it originally found (referring to acupuncture’s calming effect during withdrawal) that, “Unlike methadone treatment, acupuncture affects the patient’s state of mind during withdrawal, not the body’s need for a drug.” –Dr. Michael Smith, former clinic Director. In a 1989 study published in The Lancet, a British medical journal, it was stated that “…acupuncture was highly effective in treating alcoholism…[and] control group patients experienced twice as many relapses in the six months following the experiment…”

Clinical Hypnosis: Healing the Mind
In addition to acupuncture, another valuable tool that IMS offers is clinical hypnosis. These are trained hypnotic techniques performed by Dr. Lisanti. They are capable of delving into the deep psychological layers that may hold suppressed memories and emotions which could often lead to addiction.

Homeopathy: Repairing Broken Vibrations
Homeopathy is a therapy that bases its healing on the science of like-cures-like. Using plant, mineral, animal and various other sources, homeopathic remedies extract the ‘vibration’ of these materials into a safe, highly diluted remedy. It has been in existence for over two-hundred years however the first concept of like-cures-like was introduced by Hippocrates in 400 BC. Many deep psychological and physical levels are able to be addressed through homeopathy allowing the body to heal from within. Depending on your specific addiction and your history, IMS will attempt to reduce your cravings and desires by administering remedies which are taken orally. Some remedies and their specific addiction targets include: Avena Sativa (common oat) used for opium, morphine, alcohol and sex; Bryonia Alba (white bryony – a vine in the cucumber family) used for overeating; Carbolicum Acidum (phenol-carbolic acid) used for whiskey and tobacco.

There are many additional approaches that Dr. Lisanti and IMS can take to assist you in withdrawing from your addiction including clinical nutrition, nutraceutical supplementation and botanical medicine.
