Acupuncture for Strengthening Chemical Sensitivity EnergyAcupuncture for Strengthening Chemical Sensitivity Energy
Some chemical sensitivity causes might range from perfumes, detergents and plant scents to tartrazine (yellow food dye #5), radon (naturally occurring undetectable toxic gas found in specific rock beds) or a nearby electrical station, EMF’s (Electro Magnetic Frequencies.)  In addition to chemical sensitivities, there is also the phenomenon of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS). This is the resulting response of a specific set of people that react to such things known as “environmental illness” or “sick building syndrome”. For many, it is assumed that these biological or physical forces can be handled by our bodies and that these select few could be more sensitive than most. However, it is the peripheral results that may not be considered as associated with chemical sensitivities as the root cause. Conventional medicine attempts to remedy many conditions or diseases that result from chemical sensitivities by using an outside band-aid approach. Integrative Med Solutions (IMS) uses acupuncture and naturopathic medicine to address chemical sensitivities from the inside-out.

Acupuncture: Strengthening Chemical Sensitivity Energy
A 2006 study by Dr. Kim Smith of Ocean Beach hospital in Washington published in the physician’s journal Medical Acupuncture entitled “Multiple Chemical Sensitivities Successfully Treated With Classical Five-Element Acupuncture” concluded that:

“CFEA can be used to discern and correct the underlying imbalance in the person and thereby help relieve symptoms. This is a reasonable approach to use in many diseases, and was extremely effective in this case. Acupuncture may be a successful adjunct in this condition.”

IMS licensed acupuncturist, Dr. Lisanti will address your individual physical and mental challenges and possibly determine an underlying chemical sensitivity. Using specific acupuncture points to rid the body of sluggish energy chemical sensitivities may be causing he could use a point formula correlating with their respective element such as: Bladder – BL 20 (Earth), 23 (Water) and 18 (Wood) which all run along the spine.

Environmental Medicine
Environmental medicine determines what you eat, drink, breathe, and are exposed to, past and present, in your personal environment and how it may be affecting your health. By following the “total load” concept, IMS will look for a variety of chronic and/or acute “exposures” that may be contributing to your breakdown of “homeostatic mechanisms”.  This is considered a maladaptation of the body to gradually adjust to outside changing circumstances and often manifests over time due to continual exposure to various chemical sensitivities.  Quite often there are genetic causes that compromise the liver’s enzymatic ability to metabolize, process, and excrete toxins.  Dr. Lisanti will help to evaluate if this is the root problem and create a custom detoxification and health plan to help address it.

Detoxification
Relieving the body of deeply embedded chemical and toxic accumulation is the goal of the IMS detoxification program when applied to challenges associated with chemical sensitivities. This can include targeting heavy metals, pesticides, dyes and other environmental excitants that have permeated or been ingested into your system over time. Detoxification is one step in a handful of protocol treatments that could very well have you on your way to a better quality of deep health that will hopefully dissipate the challenge of chemical sensitivity symptoms.

Dr. Lisanti may instill one or more of the above therapies along with additional approaches which could include homeopathy, clinical nutrition and nutraceutical supplementation. At Integrative Med Solutions, we will design an acupuncture and naturopathic treatment program that works for you.  In many cases, insurance covers portions of the acupuncture treatment.
