Acupuncture: Chemotherapy Symptoms Reduced
Chemotherapy for certain cancers can have uncompromising side effects which include vomiting and nausea, hot flush feelings, extreme weight loss, suppressed appetite and more. Acupuncture has been used on many chemotherapy patients to reduce these effects allowing a better quality of life throughout treatment. A 2006 Swedish study using acupuncture during breast cancer hormone therapy found that all the women treated reported a significant reduction in hot flushes and psychologically felt more positive overall.  The point known as pericardium 6 (PC6) located on the lower, inner forearm is called Neiguan (Inner Gate). It is a point commonly used for a multitude of ailments with some relating to chemotherapy side effects including: nausea, vomiting, irritability and dizziness. PC6 is especially useful for chest related cancers such as an affliction of the lungs.

Botanical Medicine: Huang Qin Tong, a Classical Chinese Remedy for Cancer Support
In conjunction with acupuncture, IMS botanical medicine consisting of Centuries old herbal and plant remedies, can also be used as an effective cancer support remedy. Published in an August 2010 issue of Science Translational Medicine, a Yale University study showed how an ancient Classical Chinese Medicine formula called Huang Qin Tong provided cancer support for those struggling with intestinal side effects from chemotherapy. The formula consists of peonies, skullcap, licorice and fruit from the buckthorn tree. This is just one example of the vast choice of botanical medicines Dr. Lisanti can choose for your individual therapy.

Homeopathy: Study Cites Mimicking of Chemotherapy
Homeopathy has been used for over two hundred years to assist deep layered, internal, energy healing using highly diluted remedies mostly derived from nature. In a February 2010 Journal of Oncology, research results of a study of homeopathy’s effects on breast cancer cells was published. The study is titled, “Cytotoxic effects of ultra-diluted remedies on breast cancer cells”, and was conducted by the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Moshe Frenkel MD, lead author of the study, commented, “We felt that homeopathy needed to be tested in the same way that we test new chemotherapeutic drugs. We were quite impressed to find that homeopathic remedies have similar effects to chemotherapy on breast cancer cells but without affecting normal cells, a very exciting finding. As far as we know, this is the first study that evaluated the effect of homeopathic remedies on breast cancer cells.”   The remedies used in this study include: Thuja Occidentalis, Carsinosin, Conium Maculatum and Phytolacca Decandra.
